CASE STUDY : PINK LADY

Conception of a Decision Support System for irrigation management in Pink Lady orchards thanks to satellite imagery.

The Watershift project is positioned within an international partnership (France, Italy and Spain) around the production of Pink Lady apples with the aim of designing a Decision Support Tool (DST) for irrigation management in arboriculture.

This DST is based on satellite imagery and weather forecasting data in order to advise the producer on the quantity of water to be applied to each plot of his orchard without having to rely on the installation of sensors in every plot, which is costly and time-consuming.

In order to design this DST, an experiment was carried out on plots in the three countries using innovative connected sensors that measure the water potential of a tree continuously.
