Grim ‘Hunger Stones’ warn of doom as they emerge in ancient waters

“Hunger stones” are geological inscriptions found on river stones in Central Europe that serve as records of past droughts and the looming famine resulting. Some have particularly grim inscriptions such as “If you see me, cry” written on a hunger stone from 1616 in the Elbe river in the czech republic.
